Customised kitchen furniture
Organising the kitchen space is an interesting and creative task. But in order to do it successfully, you need to fulfil a number of criteria. This is what this article is all about.
Kitchen design
The standard kitchen floor space ranges from 6 to 10 metres. The area is obviously small, but it needs to accommodate a lot of items. To create cosiness and increase functionality, it is necessary to think about every little detail. The design process involves several stages:
- Taking measurements. It is necessary to measure the length, width and height. This is necessary to take into account the dimensions of the kitchen set. Emphasis is also placed on the peculiarities of the layout. It is important the location of communications, door and window openings, other moments. With a small area and high shelves it is rational to reduce the depth of cabinets, but increase their number.
- Completion. It is necessary to carefully consider how the cabinets and shelves will be located. For convenience, the kitchen set can be divided into specific zones. In one place there will be kitchen utensils, in another products. It is necessary to allocate a separate place for household chemicals.
- Location of built-in appliances. It should be bought after the purchase of the kitchen set. This can eliminate various inconsistencies.
Nature of materials
The most common material used for the cabinet is LDF. This material is characterised by durability and good environmental performance. It is quite resistant to moisture. In addition, price and quality are characterised by an optimal ratio. More expensive models are made of MDF. There are different materials for facades. For example, acrylic or porcelain stoneware can be used.
Kitchen worktop
Most often, the same material is used for the worktop as for the façade. The worktop should be covered with a material that is resistant to heat and mechanical damage. If the worktop is properly cared for, it can serve its owner for a long time.
The requirements for worktops are summarised as follows:
- Good resistance to moisture.
- The worktop must be inert to the action of chemicals.
- The material must have good mechanical strength.
- The worktop must be resistant to high temperatures.
- Good hygienic properties. It must be easy to clean.
- The material should not be quickly subjected to abrasion.
- Presentable appearance, which will harmonise with the overall design of the kitchen.
Of course, an important consideration is the price of the kitchen set. The cost must correspond to its quality.
